Many citizens of Montgomery County do not realize the impact of the Civil War on our area. A border state, Maryland was deeply divided between the supporters of the Confederacy and the Union. Neighbor turned against neighbor. Union and rebel troops clashed in Rockville and Silver Spring. Despite this history, the events which occurred in our home towns are not well known. Below is a recording of those events that have gone largely unsung.
